Mammoth Penguins – You Just Carry On

Cambridge alt rock trio Mammoth Penguins released their new album and a cracking new single back in April. We were so taken with the track we wanted share it with you.

‘You Just Carry On’ is a sparkling piece of power pop. Led by a pounding rhythm section, the bass in particular is on point here, the song just erupts from the speakers like a force of nature.

For such a bright and upbeat melody, the lyrics tell of unrequited love or a relationship soured beyond repair. Emma Kupa’s vocals are both powerful and vulnerable all at once.

No mean feat.

I’m reminded of the raw lyrical approach of Camp Cope or Soccer Mommy coupled with the pop sensibilities of The Beth’s or Snail Mail. Have a listen and see what you think.

I’ve listened to the album There’s No Fight We Can’t Both Win and I’m happy to report they have a recorded an album that delivers on the pop hooks and killer lyrics.

‘You Just Carry On’ is out now as is the album There’s No Fight We Can’t Both Win on Fika Recordings.
