With many, many side and solo projects, The Dillinger Escape Plan lineup have as many pies as they have fingers to put in them so it should come as no shock that they’ve decided to call it a day. Dissociation, due for release in October, will be the band’s sixth and final album before they head for an indefinite hiatus.
Dillinger have promised to extensively (and intensely) tour the record to give the fans one last chance to experience the madness and mayhem that their live show entails. If you are a fan of the band and have never witnessed their stage presence then you have one last chance to rectify that – you owe it to yourself to get along!
‘Limerent Death’, the first single from the new album, was released last week and it pretty much ticks every box of a genre the band have mastered since their arrival in 1999. With signature off-beat riffing and maniacal vocals it is everything we’ve come to expect from a band looking to go out with a bang rather than an uncharacteristic whimper.
On the basis of this track I fully expect to see Dillinger fans salivating through their tears at the thought of a new album towards the end of the year. There’s definitely something bittersweet about this release given the recent news of the band’s impending demise.
