Some of you may recognise the name – I know I did.
With a unique voice that’s equal parts choirboy and soul boy, Andrew Montgomery made celestial waves in the Britpop era as frontman of Scottish band Geneva. Avoiding the laddish clichés of the era and aiming squarely at the sublime, Geneva scored four emotive Top 40 singles (‘Tranquilizer’, ‘No-One Speaks’, ‘Best Regrets’, ‘Into the Blue’) and two critically adored albums (‘Further’ and ‘Weather Underground’) between 1996 and 2001. Then they disappeared.
Fourteen years have passed, but at last we get a second chance to hear Andrew’s three-octave vocals which is equally at home soaring with the angels and down in the crypt. Andrew is back with his debut solo album Ruled By Dreams which is out in October.
To herald the arrival we are proud to share with you the video for the lead single ‘After The Storm’. Watch it then head over to his Bandcamp page and pre-order the album (we’ve heard it and you won’t regret picking it up!).
