Exciting news. If, like myself, you loved 2012′s Wrecking Ball album or you were blown away by his recent Hampden gig then you’ll be delighted to hear that Bruce Springsteen has a new album penciled in for a January 14th release.
High Hopes, his 18th studio album, is a collection of the best unreleased material the Boss has, y’know, just lying around.
The title track is the first we’ve heard from the album. A cover of a track by LA based group the Havalinas, it’s got a great big, horn driven New Orleans sound, akin to moments on the We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions album. Interestingly, 8 of the 12 songs on the new album will feature Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello.
Morello featured on a couple of tracks on Wrecking Ball as well as filling in for Steven van Zandt on the Australian leg of the Wrecking Ball tour. You can hear his influence already on the new tune and I’m excited to hear what else he brings to the table.
Enjoy ‘High Hopes’ here.
