Since Vistas released Hello in late 2018 I have fallen in love with them a little bit at a time. That love has increased with every single they have released from this EP. So far they have dropped three of the four tracks with opening track ‘Like An American’ being the odd one out.
This is infectious indie rock with cracking guitar and synth hooks along with strong, crystal clear vocals. From the opening rumble of drums on ‘Like An American’ with its chant-along chorus, through the fantastic hook and melody of ‘Eighteen’, the dance and almost eighties feel of ‘Headspace’ to the very last scale-climbing chorus of ‘Fade’, I have been struggling to get these songs out of my head for weeks.
It’s also interesting that hard copies of this EP are available on vinyl only; making me hanker for those days when I was eighteen myself. It’s been a while since my turntable was set to 45rpm. Needless to say that the three singles from the EP are also available on all the major streaming services along with some cracking previous releases.
Vistas have been extremely busy of late, having just completed a tour supporting Fatherson and are about to head out with Circa Waves. Not to mention a headline tour of their own in May into June alongside a festival slot at Electric Fields in July. These Edinburgh lads are certainly making a name for themselves. Don’t just sit there, get out there and catch them if you can.
