Arcane Roots – Matter

Arcane Roots have blown away any cobwebs they may have been building in their absence from the airwaves in recent months with absolute face-melter ‘Matter’, from upcoming album Melancholia Hymns, due out in September this year. On this single it’s as if they’ve taken the best bits from their repertoire and melded them together to provide us with an absolute beast of a track.

Andrew Groves’ distinctive and strained introduction leads us in gently before we’re up and running, being hurtled forward by drums reminiscent of Heaven & Earth, three years old in October of this year. The drum beats introduced in ‘Curtains’ toward the end of last year make another appearance to give a bit of a scientific-fi feel to what is, for me, a massive return to what made Arcane Roots one of my favourite bands of recent times.

The band is heading out on tour towards the end of September to support their impending album, where they’ll take in mainland Europe, UK and Ireland. There are few bands who put more into their live show as much as Arcane Roots do. Avoid disappointment, get yours ordered today and prepare to be blown away.
