Culann – Evonium

After a three-year wait Irvine-based rockers Culann have released their new single ‘Evonium’ with a lush video, which is a feast for the eyes. The video features big screen hardman Rab Affleck, who adds Hollywood heft to a beautifully shot and well told story.

This taster for the long-awaited album blasts out of the traps with everything at full throttle. PJ Kelly on vocal and guitar is as sharp and bombastic as ever. I’ve always thought Culann sound like they’re singing hymns to an unnamed god and this is a fantastic song couched in sword and sorcery imagery but rooted in the here and now. There just isn’t another band on the scene that sound like Culann; pop-punk guitar laced with keyboard and Kelly’s almost gospel vocal.

The band sound magnificent (and seem to be getting better and better) and the Scottish countryside looks magnificent here – Culann have once again produced a video that stands out from the crowd.

View it large and loud.
