RIP Tom Searle – 1988 – 2016

Tom Searle of Brighton band Architects has died after a three-year battle with cancer.

The terrible news was announced by his brother Dan on the band’s Facebook page earlier today. You can read the statement below.

Tom was an inspiration to not only the band, but fans the world over and the band will continue with their UK and European tour commitments in Tom’s memory as was told by Tom’s brother (and Architects’ drummer) Dan. The tour will be a chance for the fans to pay respects to one of the band’s founding members. However, it’s unsure at this point where Architects will go from here.

In a week that has been devastating to the UK music scene, where we have had to say our goodbyes to Gary Watson of The Lapelles, this is yet another tragedy which has struck a young talent down in their prime.

It’s such a sad loss and one that I feel more than most as a fan of the band. Tom was a technically gifted young guitarist with the world at his feet and the ears of thousands on every movement in his fingers. He will be sadly missed.

RIP Tom.
