Travis – Idlewild (feat. Josephine Oniyama)

Anyone who knows me also knows that for my overwhelming love of rock, metal, and all things heavy, my one true love is the Glasgow band Travis.

Travis are the band I’ve seen the most in concert, who I own everything they ever released, and have followed well before their Glasgow Garage days at the end of the first album tour (I was too young to see them in King Tuts the previous March!)

Maybe it’s a Glasgow thing, or a similar age thing leading to shared life experiences where the band were writing about the things I too was exepriencing, or maybe it’s just that they are damned good and deserve way more critical acclaim than they’ve received.

Anyway, my true love letter to Travis (or Boxset article) is a long way off, today I wanted to share the video for ‘Idlewild’ which they released this morning.

Of the video singer Fran Healy said, “We shot it on the coldest night of the year in Berlin. It was 12 below freezing and snowing. Inspired by seeing It’s a Wonderful Life a few days earlier for the hundredth time, and gambling on the snowy weather, I had us dress in 1940’s clothes. The snow fell evenly for the whole shoot and then, like a spell had been broken, stopped when we wrapped at 1am.”

Watch it below.
