Huxtable – Favourite Thing

huxtable-favourite-thing-single-coverHuxtable released ‘Favourite Thing’ with a crash on May 13th by previewing on local and national radio before the official release on Spotify. All in all a step in the right direction in the evolution of Kilmarnock’s Dynamic Duo.

‘Favourite Thing’ has the Huxtable hallmarks of big riffs, massive drums, strut and stature. The song sounds like a look back in fondness at the era of classic rock, evoking the time when rock was about pushing boundaries and not the production or the haircut.

Their early influences are on display here, incorporated and melded but still recognisable, fans of Josh Homme or classic Led Zeppelin will feel right at home. The sound is cleaner and less dense than earlier material but still unmistakably Huxtable; ridiculously sumptuous and deep for two blokes to make.

This is a classy release and it bodes well for the album expected later in the year.
