Just off the back of a support slot on the recent Fearless Vampire Killers UK tour and a headline tour of their own, Vukovi are a band who have their set nailed down and super tight. Working tirelessly to get where they are now, they are fully deserving of their opening slot for the fantastic Nothing But Thieves at Glasgow’s O2 ABC.
Taking to the stage as the venue is filling up with eager fans, they kick off with latest single Animal which goes down very well. Showcasing new material in the form of previous singles ‘Bouncy Castle’ and ‘So Long Gone’, Vukovi seem to have the growing crowd in their hands, begging for more.
There are riffs aplenty courtesy of the duo of Hamish Reilly on guitar and Jason Trotter on bass, both being driven by the beats of Colin Irving on drums. There are also some great sing along moments during fan favourites ‘Schwagger’ and ‘Target Practice’, with vocalist Janine Shilstone managing to get the crowd warmed up well for the acts set to follow them onstage.
Completing their set with the popular single Boy George, a song that has gathered much attention from radio DJs and the man himself, Vukovi are definitely a band that you should be keeping an eye on for the rest of the year. With an appearance at Camden Rocks festival and a host of other exploits planned in the summer I’m sure they can keep building on what has already been a brilliant year for them – we may even finally see that elusive album!? Until then, enjoy our photo gallery below!
