Kilmarnock’s Fatherson have been busy boys since signing to Sony last year; a new studio album as well as supporting Prides on their European tour.
The second single from the new album Open Book (out 3rd June) is ‘Lost Little Boys’, a backward glance with a hint of longing and no regret. It bangs into life with drums, bass and guitar firing on all cylinders before Ross Leighton calms everything down, sets the mood and then blasts into the catchy hook.
It’s a brave rock singer who is prepared to be as exposed as Ross is on the middle-eight, just a muted guitar and emotion to play with. His voice is one of the strengths of the band and when combined with the songwriting, musicianship and sheer toe-tapping exuberance it’s easy to hear why their first album attracted rave reviews.
‘Lost Little Boys’ heightens the expectations that the new album will be a belter.
