The SAMAs are coming!

The Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMAs), the sixth annual main awards show, is taking place at The Garage, Glasgow, next week on Thursday 8th October.

At Musicscramble many of the bands we’ve champoined over the year are nominated for awards; from Huxtable and Divides, to We Came From Wolves. Voting for the winners of the awards (in categories such as Best Live Act and Best Newcomer) has now closed.

It has been revealed by event organiser Richy Muirhead that over 20,000 votes were registered since polls opened last Monday and also that Perthshire rockers We Came From Wolves have been added to the line-up. The event will be hosted by a selection of special guests including DJ Jim Gellatly, Robert Florence of hit BBC comedy sketch show Burnistoun, and Vic Galloway (BBC Scotland). Gellatly is set to host the event while the other showbiz guests will distribute awards. Murihead said:

“This year’s awards are easily shaping up to be the biggest yet…It’s great to see the public locally and nationally really coming together to celebrate and support the ever emerging Scottish music scene!”

If you want to come along to the awards then there is a chance you still can. Limited tickets are available at the following link. If you can’t make it, we will provide live updates on Twitter during the event and expect a full rundown on Musicscramble soon after.
