Mastodon – High Road

Last week Mastodon gave us a look at new single ‘High Road’ with its bone-splitting guitars and the instantly recognisable vocals that just screams Mastodon. This is our first taste since 2011’s The Hunter, an album which I saw Mastodon tour when they hit the UK. With their heavy, heavy sound and quirky, fantasy-based lyrics they had me pinned down as a fan for good. I mean, come on, who doesn’t appreciate lyrics like “I killed a man ‘cos he killed my goat”?

I feel that if ‘High Road’ is an indication of what to expect from the upcoming album Once More Round the Sun, due out later this year, we can fully expect it to be in a few Top Ten of 2014 lists come the end of the year. Maybe I’m blinkered by my love of all things Mastodon but you can find out for yourself by just click on the track below. Enjoy!!
