Turin Brakes – Blindsided Again

So here’s the thing; I used to love Turin Brakes. From the beginning with The Optimist LP right through to Dark on Fire I was with them every step of the way. They were also a force to be reckoned with on the live stage and that meant always good times when I went along to their gigs.

I don’t know what happened after that. I lost touch with the band’s music both on album and as a live act. Although it was around the time that my tastes swung back towards rock and heavier pastures, I’m not convinced that is the reason, it just somehow happened.

Regardless. When I read a few days ago that they were bringing out a new album I was a little curious, but pretty nonplussed. Then I heard this song from it, ‘Blindsided Again’, which you are able to listen to yourself below. It is sublime. It’s not a word I use often to describe new music, but this song deserves it – I mean, just listen to the guitar work from the four-minute mark onward!! Very Pink Floyd, very atmospheric, very, very listenable.

I’m off to Amazon to discover any albums I’ve missed, oh and to place and order for We Were Here  which comes out next week on the 30th of September. Take a listen below, this is such a welcome return.
